Simon, Software Engineer

Software Engineering Safran Vectronix

I have been employed with the company since 2006 as a software engineer from the very beginning. Originally, I did an apprenticeship as an electronics technician and then studied systems engineering with a focus on software. My roots began in a start-up where we developed a digital ride sharing platform. Back then, however, we were ahead of our time: there was no mobile use option for users as we know it today with the smartphone. However, my interest at that time was already very much on embedded systems. For this reason, I wanted to return to electronics and started working at Safran Vectronix.

Software is essential in all our devices and it will become even more important in the future. In my projects, I am always learning new things, because the requirements on the customer side are increasing and constantly changing. The role as a software engineer is therefore really crucial in terms of product development.

I can and should work hands-on, because I have to thoroughly understand the actual use case. The very close exchange with colleagues from other divisions is part of my everyday life. I have an intense interaction with product management, mechanics and optics, as well as with sales. In the entire software team, we support each other. I work with colleagues from many different countries, such as the Czech Republic, Greece, France, Slovakia and Germany. Since we, as software developers, always speak many other common languages in addition to English, this is not a problem. For us, other of the many languages are, for example, Bash, Python and C/C++.
